Meet Bobo.
Bobo lives in a primate sanctuary where he is protected from hunters and poachers, alongside another 300 rescued animals residing there.
Bobo is a western lowland gorilla and the dominate male in his group. He arrived at the sanctuary in 1994 when he was just two and after his mother killed by poachers.
But the sanctuary also houses an adorable intruder who has been causing quite the stir. The tiny bush baby, more formally known as a galago, is often seen roaming around the sanctuary forest.
It soon became apparent that Bobo was for some reason drawn to the tiny bushbaby. Then one day, something amazing happened.
An Unlikely Friendship
Caretakers watched in awe as giant Bobo gently scooped the miniscule bushbaby up and gently played with it.
“Caregivers discovered him cradling the tiny primate during their morning checks, and were amazed to see him handling it with the utmost care,” the sanctuary reports.
Meanwhile, “the bush baby showed no fear of Bobo — moving around his body and spending time hopping around in an open grassy area, before choosing to return to Bobo.”
They played for almost two hours before Bobo gently carried the wild bushbaby back to a tree and delivered him there safely.
The rest of the gorilla pack also soon grew curious of the tony bushbaby and its friendship with Bobo.
“Bobo’s group-mates were desperately curious, particularly his favorite female Avishag, but he kept them all at a distance, making sure that no one disturbed his new friend,” the sanctuary writes.
