The trail, which was just over five miles and quite a challenge, was just as beautiful as it sounds. The group was surrounded by Incredible scenery and couldn’t help but capture it all on camera.

Mystical creature

As they explored and took in the wonderful views the couple saw a big, black, shabby dot in the distance. Neither Scott nor Get were sure what they saw, but they decided to get nearer and investigate the matter. On a closer look, the creature turned out to have sharp teeth, long claws and a wagging tail. The big, shabby creature turned out to be someone’s dog!

Expert in the field

The dog was both friendly and happy. In addition, to the couple’s great surprise, the dog appeared to be an expert in the field of exploring and knew the trail well. Scott told The Dodo he had first joked with Get that it was a big, dangerous bear.

The dog was anything but dangerous and became a great hiking companion. When Scott and Get took pictures, the dog sat down patiently and rested, until the tour continued.

Concern for the dog

But despite the wonderful existence of this strange dog, there was something that troubled the couple. The furry guide did not seem to have a home or owners nearby. Then the couple noticed a rather worn tag with writing on it.

The couple laughed when they read what was engraved: “”Hi, I’m Smokey. I live nearby so please don’t take me. I like to follow hikers sometimes.”

A message was also found on the back of the tag which offered more reassurance: “Don’t worry, I’ll go home when I get tired. My people love me a lot. Thanks for being nice!”

After the walk, the couple were escorted back to the parking lot by Smokey. They were really happy with their new friend and they petted him then let him return to his loving family.
