Bus driver runs into busy street to save 6-year-old boy with special needs

Jonathan is a 6-year-old boy with special needs who was chasing his ball during recess.

He ended up following his ball out of the school play area and into the middle of a busy intersection.

As you can see in the video below Jonathan stands alone and looking confused as traffic comes from all different directions.

Screams at drivers to stop

But it wasn’t until bus driver Cecilia spotted him that he’s rescued from this frightening situation.

Cecilia is a bus driver for the Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) who just so happened to leave her layover two minutes later than normal when she spotted the lone child.

In frightening footage captured of the incident you can see Cecilia screaming at the child and honking her horn to alert other drivers, but they don’t stop.

Runs into busy intersection

Cecilia, mother-of-three, then halts her vehicle and runs out into the busy street to rescue the young boy, while dodging oncoming cars.

She eventually catches up with Jonathan, grabs his hand and leads him to the safety of her bus where she calls the police to collect him, so he can be reunited with his mother.

“If it wasn’t for her, I could’ve been planning a funeral now for my son,” Jonathan’s mom Cassandra told WWNY-TV.

‘Right place at the right time’

This incident marks the 10th missing child found by MCTS bus drivers in recent years, according to Inside Edition, showing that these bus drivers are going above and beyond the call of duty.

“From my point of view, God put me in the right place at the right time,” Cecilia said.

Who knows what could have happened to this sweet boy had Cecilia not rushed out into the busy street to help him.

Please share to pay tribute to Cecilia and all the other Milwaukee bus drivers who have come to the rescue of so many other lost children.
