Cop overhears odd question, looks under blanket and realizes something is terribly wrong

When Tierra Gray was evicted from her home in Oxford, Ohio, she had nowhere to turn to. The local shelters were all full.

In desperation, she took her two sons to the Butler County Seriff’s Office so they would have somewhere to sleep for the night.

The lowest point of her life

“I was just like, ‘What is it that I’m supposed to do. My kids are here sleeping in a jail lobby.’ I never thought I would get through that,” Thierra says to news channel WLWT.

But luckily, Thierra and her two boys had a guardian angel looking out for them that night.

Inside Edition

Deputy Brian Bussell was walking through the lobby during his shift when he noticed that the family was still there after the previous night.

“I know our visitation is at 9 AM, and I saw the lady and the two young children sitting in the chairs,” Deputy Bussell explains, in a Facebook post by Butler County Sheriff’s Office.

“When I walked back out a while later, the children were asleep, and the lady was still sitting there, so I inquired if she needed assistance.”

Above and beyond

After hearing about the family’s plight, the Deputy first rang local shelters in the area to try to find the family a place to stay. When he discovered that all of the shelters were full, he paid for the family to stay in a hotel for 10 nights out of his own pocket.

He then took them to Wallmart to buy the boys new clothes and shoes.

Although Deputy Bussell wanted to keep his generous actions to himself, his department found out about his heroic efforts and praised him in a Facebook post that has been shared over 9 000 times.

“This is a true act of kindness. He did not tell anyone at work what he had done but the lady took a picture with him and posted it on Facebook,” says Sheriff Richard K. Jones of Butler County Sheriff’s Office in the post.

“I am pleased that he was able to help this family out. This speaks volumes in light of all the recent negativity people are saying about law enforcement. I have some of the best employees here.”
