His “Christmas in Heaven” song, released in 2012, explores how our dearly departed might be celebrating Christmas in heaven.
The successful artist rose to fame in 2011 when he won the 10th season of “American Idol.”
Then he released his first Christmas album: “Christmas with Scotty McCreery” in 2012.
His “Christmas in Heaven” song from the album and inspired by the loss of his grandfather, asks how his loved one is celebrating Christmas with God. His lyrics offer hope.
He asks: “Are you kneeling with shepherds before him now? Can you reach out and touch his face? Are you part of that glorious Holy night? I wonder what Christmas in Heaven is like.”
Scott talked about his inspiration for the song and how he hoped others would be comforted by it.
“I think a lot of people are going to have a personal connection with that song — really be touched by it, hopefully,” he said in an interview with Taste of Country
Scott said the lyrics gave him chills and there was: “no question it was going on the album.”
So many fans have commented on how the song offers hope as those who have lost a loved one often dread the holiday season.
