Losing a loved one is a sad affair and when we’re especially close to them it is made all the more difficult. To add to the mourning process, one must often begin the long and tedious process of dealing with inheritance issues — as well as cleaning up and vacating our loved ones’ premises.
When mother Millie passed away in 2017, her son Ray Rhinehart of Culver City, California, didn’t have much use for her porcelain doll collection.
So Ray decided the best thing would be to donate the dolls to a thrift shop.
Funeral services for Millie Rhinehart will be held on Saturday, November 4th at Holy Cross Cemetery in the Mortuary…

Ray dropped the dolls off at the Discovery Shop in Santa Monica, which is funded by the American Cancer Society, with proceeds going towards cancer research.
He never thought to examine the dolls more closely, or look closer in the boxes where they were enclosed.
About two months later, he received an unexpected call.
“I got a phone call saying that… we found an envelope in one of the boxes of the dolls,” Ray said. “And there seems to be a lot of money in it.”
At first Ray thought ‘a lot of money’ could mean something around $30-$40. But as he would soon discover, it turned out it was much, much more…
Staff at the thrift shop discovered a whopping $36,000 in cash hidden inside the envelope!
The money was promptly returned to Ray, and the dolls are now also in good hands — they’ve since been donated to an orphanage.
It’s amazing that the shop’s staff were honest enough to notify Ray about this inheritance money and make sure it ended up in the right hands! Share to pay tribute to their integrity and if you agree we need more people like this in the world!
