Postal carrier Ivan Crisostomo was on his usual rounds in Sacramento, California, when he was stopped in his tracks by the sound of a girl crying.
It was June of last year when he spotted 16-year-old girl Crystal Allen huddled behind the bushes, shaking uncontrollably.
He stopped to help without realizing the shocking situation this girl was hiding from.
Crystal’s mother Stacey says her daughter was lured to Sacramento by someone she thought was a friend but was then sold to sex traffickers.
They drugged and abused her for three months, even tying her to a chair and beating her, before she found her opportunity to escape.
She was in the car with her captors and she heard them discussing a crime. She saw her one opportunity to escape and in a brave move grabbed one of their phones and ran for her life.
‘They are coming to get me’
Crystal hid, shaking in the bushes, terrified for her life. Ivan Crisostomo heard her and immediately knew she was in trouble and asked if everything was okay.
Crystal frantically pointed to the skin on her arms, crying, “They were putting things in me. They were putting things in me! They are coming to get me.”
The only thing Crystal wanted to do was call her mother, but she was too shaken and shocked to do anything. Ivan called the police and stayed with her until they arrived.
