One of the heroic firefighters who lost his life while responded to the 9/11 terror attacks on the World Trade Center has finally been laid to rest.
According to CNN, Michael Haub’s remains were identified conclusively by a medical examiner last week, 18 years after he was killed.
The Uniformed Firefighters Association said in a statement that a service had been held to give his family closure and peace of mind.

Haub, a 13-year veteran of Ladder Company 4, was one of 343 firefighters who died on September 11, 2001.

Incredibly, as of July this year, the remains of only 60% of the 2,753 people who lost their lives on 9/11 have been positively identified.
Not only that, but many more who survived have gone on to suffer from related illnesses. New York officials claim as many as 200 firefighters have passed away from illnesses linked to their efforts at Ground Zero.
“It is almost incomprehensible that after losing 343 members on September 11, we have now had 200 more FDNY members die due to World Trade Center illness,” Fire Commissioner Daniel Nigro said in July. “These heroes gave their lives bravely fighting to rescue and recover others. We will never forget them.”
