Annegret Raunigk achieved global fame in 2005 when she became Germany’s oldest mom. At 55 years old she delivered a little girl.
That same year, Annegret, who had worked as a teacher, retired. She had 13 children by 5 different dads.
But the controversial mom would soon land in the spotlight again, after falling pregnant once more – this time at 65 years old.
The pregnancy has been called irresponsible and medical experts and politicians hit the roof, advising others against doing the same thing.
However Annegret stood her ground and insisted on carrying the pregnancy to full term.
And it wasn’t just her age that suprised the doctors who met her to carry out her ultra sound…
Teacher Annegret Raunigk isn’t just a mother of 17, she’s also a grandmother of 7.
Just over 10 years ago she became known for delivering a baby at 55 years old. Her pregnancy provoked a huge debate in Germany.
Annegret Raunigk answered her critis, saying that she’s good at keeping herself in top shape during pregnancy.
She also believes that everyone should be able to live the life they chose and have control over their own body.
In 2015 Annegret made an historic return to the limelight, when she unbelievably announced she was expecting quadruplets at the age of 65.
The doctors could hardly believe their eyes when they saw the ultrasound – but the most shocked of all was Annegret herself.
Never in her wildest dreams could she have imagined that she was carrying four babies.
After undergoing IVF in Ukraine, the single mom gave birth in a hospital in Berlin. According to her doctor, the birth was “suprisingly easy”.
The babies, three boys and a girl, were born by C-Section in the 26th week.
The pregnancy could not be carried to term, because doctors deemed that Annegret’s womb would not be able to handle the pressure.
Despite some complications during the first few months after their birth, all four children and their mom were able to leave the hospital after a short period of supervision.
The babies recovered well and today they’re healthy and happy little bundles!
Mom Annagret could return home to her 10-year-old daughter, Leila, who was overjoyed to meet her newborn siblings.
Annegret is now mom to 17 children, the eldest is 46.
Talking about the historical pregnancy Annegret has explained that her daughter, Leila, had planted the idea in her mind.
Leila said: “I want a brother or sister!”, according to Daily Mail.
Many wonder if it’s really good to become mom to children in such a mature age.
“If you gossip about someone else, you do not have a particularly interesting life, so it doesn’t concern me,” Annegret says to RTL.
Her previous children have also given Annegret Raunigk seven grandchildren, some of whom are considerably older than some of her own children.
For a woman in her seventies with a teenage daughter and four babies, Annegret still manages to keep her cool- which is impressive!
“I’m not really worried. I keep myself healthy and in good shape. As for everything else, I have enough experience, so nothing new to me, “she says.
Annegret is planning to move from Berlin to the small town of Hoexter in Nordrhein-Westfalen, where she has bought a much bigger house.
And who has the right to say that this family is not okay? The most important thing is that children feel good and have a safe upbringing.
