Woman asks homeless man life-changing question; then hands him something that leaves him in tears

Often when we see a homeless person sitting by the side of the road we have to make a decision fast. Do we stop and try and help? Do we drive on? It’s tough as we’re often not ready and I’m always left wondering how they got there and if they have a family.

Alan Duffany, 52, has been homeless most of his adult life. He has family in Tennessee, but he has been living on the streets of Sacramento for years. That’s where he met Jody Revak.

Jody often stopped to give Alan some change and had got to know him over time. Alan was panhandling on the side of the road one December day when Jody stopped and asked him: “Alan, if there was something I could get you for Christmas, what would that be?” she asked.

He told her if he could have just one thing, it would be to see his sister in Tennessee.

“I’m going to make that happen for you,” she said. Alan couldn’t believe her response and just put his head in his hands and started crying.

With the help of her friend, Stephanie Rice, they worked to make Alan’s wish a reality and told him to meet them at the local bus station where he was given a ticket to Sneedville, Tennessee, where his sister, Rose Cooper, lives.

The two ladies also gave Alan new clothes for the trip and as she watched the expression on his face as he left to see his sister, Jody knew she had done the right thing.

“There was just something about him that I just connected with,” she said.

Watch Jody talk more about her experience in the video below.

What a wonderful act of kindness from these two big-hearted ladies to help Alan reunite with his family for Christmas.
