I cannot comprehend abandoning an animal and leaving it to fend for itself, let alone tying it up so it has no chance of finding food and water alone.
In this case a dog was not only abandoned and tied to tree but done so while pregnant.
As she struggled to stay alive with no food and water, she then had to give birth to 8 puppies alone.
Not long after the mama dog, later named Libby, had given birth, she was discovered by animal rescuers.
Her puppies were still wet and despite her terrible condition and I’m sure, complete exhaustion, she was doing her best to clean them and keep them safe.
St. Landry Parish Animal Control and Rescue, in Louisiana, found Libby in a shocking state, she was emaciated, covered in ants, mosquitoes and dirt.
Sadly, she lost one of her pups who was drowning in blood, despite Libby’s best efforts to save her.
After she arrived at the rescue center, she had four more puppies. She was transferred to the local vet clinic where her babies are being hand fed to let Libby recover from her terrible treatment.
Libby was put on IV fluids to help with her dehydration and low body weight and her case is being investigated.
I really hope they find the person that committed such a cruel act against Libby. Some people should not be allowed anywhere near animals.
