This sweet puppy probably thought she’d found a loving home, but instead she found herself alone in a cage at an animal shelter.
While all shelters have to hold an abandoned animal for 72 hours in case owners reclaim them, many shelters are so overcrowded, that they are often forced to put the animal down.
According to the ASPCA around 6.5 million pets find themselves in animal shelters every year in the U.S. and of those 1.5 million cats and dogs are put down.
Crying and whimpering
The odds were stacked against this puppy, who hadn’t been fixed and was only 3 months old when she was heartlessly dumped at a shelter.
Staff at Saving Carson Shelter Dogs posted a video of Sidney asking for someone to adopt her.
In the video Sidney can be heard crying and whimpering in her small enclosure; she looks utterly defeated.

Thankfully the video touched the hearts of so many of the organization’s followers who took an interest in taking this gorgeous hound in.
Some people wrote in from as far as Australia offering Sidney a second chance in a loving home, according to The Epoch Times.
‘Totally inhumane’
One comment read, “It just isn’t right or acceptable for any pet owner to turn their back on their young pets, which results in hundreds of babies being killed, which is totally inhumane.”
A home was found for Sidney just five days after she was dumped, thanks to the shelter’s hard work in publicizing this sweet creature but other dogs and cats aren’t as lucky.
Abandoning your pet isn’t acceptable. If owners find themselves not wanting their pet anymore, they should be doing all they can to find them another home, instead of dumping them at overcrowded shelters.
