Tim Tebow’s mom ignored advice from doctors to abort baby – ‘Your life is in danger’

Former NFL star Tim Tebow has opened up about his mom’s determination to keep him despite doctors urging her to end her pregnancy.

Tebow, an outspoken Christian athlete and sports commentator, said his mom was urged to end her pregnancy because of many complications but refused to do so.

The former professional baseball player and football player is also a three-time New York Times best-selling author, an international speaker, and an ESPN sports broadcaster.

After setting up the Tim Tebow Foundation in 2010, he has funded a hospital and has organized an annual prom for children with special needs.

Tim was born in 1987 in Makati, the Philippines, to missionary parents but his mom Pamela’s pregnancy was fraught with complications. Before she found out she was pregnant Pamela contracted amoebic dysentery and fell into a coma while in the Philippines.

While recovering, she discovered she was pregnant but the medications which had been used to treat her caused a severe placental abruption. Doctors told her to expect a stillbirth and they recommended an abortion but she and her husband Robert decided against it.

“Even when the doctors said it could and might cost her her life, she decided she was going to trust God,” Tim says.

It was a while before Pamela’s pregnancy was confirmed as doctors didn’t believe it at first.

“They actually thought it was a tumor — a mass of fetal tissue,” Tim, the youngest of five children, explains.

Pamela said in an interview with First Coast News that doctors kept telling her if she kept the baby her life would be in danger.

“[My doctor] said that I needed to have an abortion,” she said. “She said that I needed to abort quickly and my life was in danger. She said I would die and he wasn’t really a baby he was a mass of fetal tissue.”

But she decided to go ahead with the pregnancy and when Tim was born doctors said it was a miracle.

“Of all my years, this is the greatest miracle that I have ever seen,” Tim said doctors told his mom. “Because I have no idea how he survived. The placenta is not attached and there are so many different issues and I don’t know how he had the nourishment and the food to be able to survive. This is a miracle baby.”

Tim says his mom put her trust in God.

“The pregnancy was so tough, there were so many setbacks and heartaches but the whole time she continued to trust God,” he said in a speech for the 2021 March for Life.

“I’m so grateful that my mom gave me the chance at life because many times she could have made the choice to do something different,” he added.

I’m so thankful that both mother and baby lived to tell this story, it’s a beautiful one and reminds us all how precious life is. Please share.
