We all remember how excited we were as kids at the prospect of a birthday party and spending time with our friends. When thinking about our big day, our imagination knew no bounds at that age; our perspective on life was innocently untarnished.
As one soon-to-be five-year-old boy looked forward to his big day, he decided he could make it even better by making a call to the police – to his parent’s horror.
Police crashed his party in full riot gear!

Zachary was so excited about his police-themed party that naturally he thought the real police should be there. So without telling his parents, the young New Zealander picked up the phone and dialled for the authorities, personally inviting the police to his bash.
The phone soon rang back. This time Sarah, Zachary’s mother, answered, and she was horrified.
“I’m very sorry,” she said. “That was my nearly 5-year-old son, he was just telling me that he, um, wanted to invite the police to his birthday party. I didn’t realize he was going to phone!”
To Sarah’s surprise, the operator said: “I don’t know if we’ll be able to make it, but I’ll put it in.”
Little did she know an even bigger surprise was on its way. On the day of Zachary’s birthday party there was a knock at the door, and the birthday boy opened it up to see a group of police officers!
“We’ve got some stuff outside if you want to come take a look at it?” one officer offered. “Maybe a little play around with some of our gear? Would you be interested in that?”
They put him in police gear and let him sit on their car. Then there was one last shock in store for this lucky boy as a police helicopter flew by. You can watch the fun unfold in the video below:

The police posted a video and pictures of the special day on their Facebook page, with a suggestion that next time Zachary send paper invitations instead. Either way, I think this police department is pretty special and a great example of all the different ways police help lift a community. Please share if you agree.
