Girl gets up on stage with grandfather and music starts – their dance routine brings the house down

Grandparents are special people and the bond so many have with their grandchildren is so strong. They are often a calming influence, offer words of wisdom and are great role models for so many youngsters.

For 10-year-old Maeve, her role model is her 72-year-old grandpa. The two are so close they dance together in perfect unison. The video below shows one of their performances and I couldn’t help but shed a few tears watching this adorable duo. His guidance, patience and obvious love for his granddaughter made my heart swell.

Maeve, from California, thought of her grandfather when she was preparing for the talent competition as he wasn’t a stranger to the stage. The two practiced together and I’m sure enjoyed the extra time they got to spend in each other’s company.

Her grandpa Bill, a zoo keeper at San Diego Zoo, according to the video below, is clearly excited to be performing on stage with his beautiful and accomplished granddaughter.

With experience on his side he was able to calm a nervous and excited Maeve down and remain calm himself as they both took to the stage.

Wearing an adorable blue and white striped dress Maeve takes her grandpa’s hand and gets ready for the song to begin.

The music starts and they both start tapping their feet. Grandpa may be 72-years-old but he can definitely dance and is in perfect time to the music. The two of them look great together.

Performing a beautiful tap dancing duet to Anna Kendrick’s “When I’m Gone” brought tears to my eyes and gets the crowd cheering at their impressive routine.

They even pull off a cartwheel at the end. Yes even the grandpa. It’s a wonderful sight. See for yourself in the video below.
