Jon Bon Jovi is helping to feed the needy with his two community kitchens

Rock star Jon Bon Jovi has had quite the career, one which has has earned him and his band a legion of loyal fans.

From big hair rocker of the 80s to his 90s resurgence when he shedded his shaggy mullet, he has succeeded in staying current and keeping him and his band ahead of the game.

But did you know there’s more to this rocker and his many hair dos than meets the eye?

The father-of-four is helping to feed tens of thousands of needy Americans with his chain of community kitchens.

Jon Bon Jovi Soul Kitchen was opened by the famous singer and his wife Dorothea in 2011.

Situated in Red Bank, New Jersey, it has served thousands of meals to needy people under the promise that it will always: “allow diners the dignity of a meal without judgement.”

Delicious farm to kitchen meals are served with a suggested donation of $20 with volunteer opportunities and a pay-it-forward program.

The venture was so successful a second restaurant opened in Toms River in New Jersey in 2016, turning the program into a community restaurant chain.

According to the Soul Kitchen website, 54% of meals served were funded by donations, while the rest was funded through volunteer work.

The venture even provides volunteering opportunities with access to a team of volunteer professionals who provide job coaching, life coaching, financial coaching, and legal advice to meet their goals, according to the website.

Jon Bon Jovi opened his first Soul Kitchen in the Red Bank area of New Jersey, with his wife of 30 years Dorothea.

The second is located near Toms River, an area affected by Hurricane Sandy in 2012.

Described as a community kitchen it offers “a place where individuals or families can come to eat a delicious farm-to-table meal in a warm, welcoming setting and meet our neighbors.”

Visitors can enjoy a three-course meal starting with a soup or salad, an entree of fish, meat or vegetarian and a freshly made dessert. Chefs prepare most of the meals with ingredients from the venture’s own garden or JBJ Soul Kitchen Farm.
