As we prepare to spend this festive time with those special people in our lives, we should spare a thought for those who can’t be with their families for Christmas.
Those that work over the festive period, those people who are sick and can’t go home and those who don’t have a loving family to celebrate with. It serves as a reminder how lucky most of us are and how grateful we should be.
For Penn Pennington he had to stay in his local hospital in Tennessee over Christmas to receive the chemotherapy treatment he needed.
But little did he know he had a fan in the hospital who was only too happy to help bring some Christmas cheer to his bedside.
Penn Pennington is a long-time Nashville session guitarist who for more than two decades has played at the Grand Old Opry, one of the most famous country music stages in the nation.
The 67-year-old is undergoing chemotherapy at Sarah Cannon Cancer Center, according to Rocket City Now News.
When his nurse Alex found out that she had a famous musician on her ward she brought in her guitar and asked if he would do a duet with her.
Thankfully Penn’s daughter was there to capture the beautiful moment when the two sing “O Holy Night.”
She posted the video and it quickly went viral. It’s already received more than 131,000 views.
