Seventy-five-year-old Gerry Suttle lives in Riesel, Texas.
Like many other elderly persons, she wanted nothing more than to live in her own home.
But without help, it was difficult. And for Gerry, who had a large yard, maintaining her lawn was even harder.
So the grass grew tall.
The problem is, in Gerry’s town, there’s a law that prohibits residents from letting their grass grow taller than 18 inches (45 cm).
So when the police noticed Gerry’s unmowed lawn, they sent her a notice to appear in court.
Gerry never saw the notice though, and didn’t show up for her court date.
Eventually, the police issued a warrant for Gerry’s arrest and the elderly woman was on the verge of being thrown in jail.
The news became the talk of the town, and when the four young Reynolds brothers saw a story about Gerry on TV, they were moved to take action.
The brothers simply couldn’t imagine seeing this poor woman arrested and in handcuffs.
They had never met her, but they wouldn’t let her go to jail without trying to help.
So they each brought a lawnmower to Gerry’s house and started cutting the grass and weeds.
It was about much more than mowing the lawn. It was about saving Gerry and extending a hand to a fellow human being.
“We haven’t met her yet, but she’s 75 years old and she needs some help mowing. That’s the least we could do,” Blaine, one of the brothers, told News 10.
When Gerry saw the four boys working hard in the heat, she couldn’t believe her eyes. And then the tears came.
Soon, the boys’ efforts were recognized around the neighborhood. Other neighbors arrived and joined the effort.
In just two hours, the entire yard was cut and looked more beautiful than ever. And Gerry’s warrant was ripped up, thanks to the four fantastic youngsters.
“I am very seldom without words. This is one time. You might want to mark it down in history that I didn’t have something to say,” Gerry told News 10.

This story shows that you should never judge a book by its cover, and it really gives me hope for humanity.
