Pastor reveals shocking nursing home images of Esther, 80, lying face down in a pillow ‘gasping for breath’

The decision to move our elderly parents into a retirement home is never easy but often we don’t have a choice.

We all like the idea of staying in our own home and remaining independent but when we need more help than our family can give us that tough decision has to be made by our loved ones.

But of course we expect those nursing home staff to look after our loved ones as if they were their own flesh and blood.

But unfortunately this is not the case all of the time.

When James Brown went to visit his 80-year-old mother Esther Brown at the Altercare Nobles Pond Retirement home , in Ohio, he was met with a horrifying sight.

James had brought his pastor and long-time family friend Julia Wiggins to see Esther at the highly regarded nursing home in Canton.

Her son said they found Esther in a wheelchair slumped with her face in a pillow gasping for breath and unable to lift her head.

Took 10 minutes for staff to respond

Pastor Julia Wiggins said Esther was in the corner of the nurse’s station. At first she didn’t recognize her but then realized the horror.

“After being inquisitive we approached the subject only to find out that it was Mother Esther Brown face down into a soft pillow gasping for breath and strangling on her own saliva,” she said, according to the Daily Mail.

Esther’s son James “began to cry out that’s my momma” and rushed to help her.

The pair yelled for help and it took ten minutes before anyone came. Julia took pictures of Esther as evidence of her treatment.

James stayed with his mother overnight, he was so worried about her. He then lodged an official complaint.

But following an investigation the Brown family’s complaint was declared unsubstantiated, the Daily Mail states.

Julia shared the pictures she had taken of Esther on social media with a lengthy description of what they had discovered.

The post quickly went viral and has so far been shared more than 150,000 times attracting 62,000 comments of absolute shock at Esther’s alleged treatment.
