Have you ever filled up your cart in the grocery store, just to realize that you forgot your wallet?
That tremendously embarrassing “oh sugar” moment!
I think everyone can relate to the stress and panic. Add to this a long line of people behind you and the situation gets even worse.
One guy recently had to go through exactly this scenario, but he really did not expect what happened to him after that…
The elderly veteran had forgotten the code to his card. But then the cashier stepped in and did something that fills my heart with so much hope and warmth!
Tim McKellar, from Oklahoma, wrote on Facebook how he had just “witnessed one of the most impressive things I’ve ever seen”. So he just had to spread the word about the actions of remarkable cashier Jacob Wittman.
The post, which contained a photo with all the details, quickly spread and soon it was not only Tim’s friends who were praising Jacob.
It all started when Tim was in the store and spotted an older man having trouble paying for his goods.
Tim writes:
“I just witnessed one of the most impressive things I’ve ever seen and would love to share the story with y’all and give credit where it’s due. An elderly gentleman was trying to buy a few things at the Dollar general in Sallisaw, Oklahoma when his card was declined because he couldn’t remember his PIN number.
He tried a couple different times when another lady offered to help him again with no luck. That’s when the cashier Jacob Wittman pulled his wallet out and told the lady to scan his card which ended up working without any problem.
The old man wearing his veteran hat was obviously confused and asked the kid if he had just bought his stuff totaling right at $20. Jacob said yes sir I did and you don’t owe me a dime.
Now this kid obviously makes minimum wage or real close to it and probably didn’t have the extra money to spare. I thanked him for what he had done, asked for his name and took his picture. Let’s give this Good Samaritan the acknowledgement that he deserves.”

What an awesome guy!
It is really lovely acts of kindness like this, one human reaching out to another, someone in need that inspires us to make a real difference in others lives and to perhaps do the same for someone else too.
The cashier showed that he had a heart of gold and if more were like him, the world would be a better place – I am convinced.
