Body’s hidden warning: 5 signs there’s something wrong with your liver

The liver is one of the hardest working organs we have and does everything it can to keep us healthy.

Any toxins that we put into our bodies it goes into over-drive to get rid of them; like our very own purifying system.

There is a limit to what this organ can take so it’s important we take care of it and know when it’s not working as efficiently as it should be.

Here are five subtle warning signs that your liver needs help.

1: Itching

Itchy skin could be due to a whole host of reasons but surprisingly enough one of those could be liver problems.

If your liver is damaged it causes bile to build up in the blood stream. When your bile duct is blocked, the bile stagnates and flows back into the blood stream. This can build up under the skin and cause itchiness, according to Health 24.

2: Stomach ache / Constipation

If you often feel bloated after eating, it may be because the liver is enlarged by different fats that it cannot handle. If this happens often, it is a sign that the liver is not feeling well, or is overloaded.

3: You’re often tired

The liver helps to detox your body and energize it, so when your live isn’t healthy it’s ability to do this is diminished.

If you have a bad liver your blood can be overloaded with toxins which prevents your brain staying sharp and you may have trouble concentrating.

We all feel tired every now and then but if fatigue is a common occurrence you should see your doctor.

4: You’ve gained weight

A sweet or salty treat is good every now and then as is alcohol and fried foods but what if we eat a lot of them?

If we have a healthy liver it works overtime to process the toxins we are putting into our body but if our livers are struggling, our bodies cannot digest the food or break down fats properly.

This results is weight gain and feeling heavy and sluggish.

5: You bruise or bleed easily

If you find that you bruise or bleed easily after being injured, this might be a sign that your liver is not healthy. An unhealthy liver means the proteins you need to clot your blood are no longer being produced in sufficient amounts.
