Bear breaks man’s spine and ‘keeps him for food’ for one month – found by hunters and lives to tell the tale

When hunters happened upon a bear’s cave in Russia they didn’t want to stick around. But their dogs refused to leave the site, causing them to investigate further.

What they found next has shocked people around the world, those who cannot believe this survival story is actually true.

An emaciated man, who had been lying motionless for so long he had turned into a “human mummy,” was discovered in the den.

Rescuers thought he was dead, until he managed to open his eyes and confirm his name.

The man, who says his name is Alexander, is from Russia’s remote Republic of Tuva, according to The Siberian Times.

He was rushed to hospital where doctors confirmed he had suffered a broken spine and was severely emaciated.

According to reports he remembers his first name but not his age. Experts believe he had been in the bear’s den for around a month, drinking urine to survive.

Alexander is also being treated for multiple injuries and rotting skin. He can only move his arms, according to local doctors.

“Local medics say they cannot explain how the man survived such injuries,” the report claimed, according to The Sun.

‘Very rare thing’

According to the newspaper Dr Louise Gentle, senior lecturer in wildlife conservation at Nottingham Trent University, in the U.K., is also amazed that Alexander managed to survive.

She added that a bear attacking, and dragging, a human into its den is a “vary rare thing to happen”.
