Country music star Brad Paisley to give back to his community: By opening a grocery store for the needy

Working alongside Brad’s alma mater, Belmont University, they have hatched a plan to open The Store, a food bank that’s set up as a supermarket.

The Store will be stocked with both fresh and nonperishable food items donated by various organizations and will be available to those in need for one year, with a goal of serving 3,000 customers per year. The project is set to begin construction in 2019.

In an interview with The Tennessean, the country musician said: “All of us are one unforeseen disaster away from rock bottom,” he said.

“It’s nice to think about a place where when that happens to someone, they can use it to get back on their feet.”

The Paisley family was inspired after volunteering at a similar organization called The Unity Shoppe in Santa Barbara, California.

After their boys were acting a bit spoiled, their parents wanted to set them on a better path so they decided to volunteer at The Unity Shoppe with their sons, Huck, 11, and Jasper, 9.

“So many people are making great choices in their lives. It’s not like they’ve made major mistakes, they just need a little extra help and we want to be a resource for those people,” Kimberly told People.

“This is a grocery store with dignity for people who have fallen on hard times,” Brad explained to the Tennessean.

The project has been met with much praise for the couple.

Some comments raised concerns about the project becoming a “tourist trap” which could deter some people in need from visiting. Brad and Kimberly have assured the public that they are committed to serving their community and preserving those people’s dignity in the process.

Not only do I love that Brad and Kimberly are doing this for the Nashville community, I love that these two celebrities are still married. They are a great couple and a giving couple!

It’s so humbling to see people with everything giving back to their community in such a special way. We wish this wonderful couple all the success in this endeavor. Please share to show your support!
