During an interview with ABC News’ ‘Nightline,’ Dolly Parton revealed that she and her co-stars felt that the film has taken on new relevance in light of recent movements around equal pay for women and workplace harassment.

“All these years, we’ve talked about doing a sequel to 9 to 5 and it never made any real sense until just recently,” she said, according to Country Living. “We’re trying to get the script and all that. Everybody is very interested and we’ve all agreed that we’d love to do it if it’s right.”

The three women get revenge on their boss Dabney Coleman who fired people for no reason and spread the lie that Doralee was sleeping with him in the 1980’s movie which became the 20th highest-grossing comedy film.

According to Deadline, 20th Century Fox is interested in hiring actress and writer Rashida Jones (“Angie Tribeca”) to co-write an updated version of the movie with creator Pat Resnick.

Country-singing superstar Dolly Parton also went on to say in the interview that 20th Century Fox presented her with an idea for the sequel, to which she said yes.
