Each woman is a star in their own right and while Miley has dipped into different music styles she’s never forgotten her southern roots.

Her connection with Dolly comes from a long-lasting friendship with the 26-year-old’s father and fellow musician Billy Ray Cyrus.

In a ten-minute tribute to the woman who brought country music to the world, she was first joined on stage by Kacey Musgraves and Katy Perry, dressed in red and singing the first of the evening’s hits from Dolly “Here you come again.”

Next up was Dolly’s goddaughter, newly married pop star Miley Cyrus, who made an entrance dressed in a dazzling gold embroidered suit.

She belted out the Dolly classic “Jolene”, harmonizing beautifully with her godmother while the crowd jumped to its feet.

Eight-time Grammy winner Dolly did not disappoint and proved to the excited crowd that she still has it.

Meanwhile Miley couldn’t stop smiling at her godmother as they both proved their amazing star power up on stage.

Dolly, who hasn’t appeared at the Grammys since 2001, shared a tender moment with her goddaughter at the end of the performance when she touched her arm and told her “I appreciate you.”

The star-studded crowd went wild and Maren Morris joined the duo to sing Neil Young’s “After the Gold Rush,” with Miley and Dolly.
