It’s a sad fact that in 2018 the internet and social media is dominated by images of women who do not represent the average.
There are companies trying to change that but the majority of female models and celebrities have had surgery or the photographs have been airbrushed and filtered so images of real people are seldom celebrated or shared.
A couple from Texas have turned this on its head after photos were released of them showing off their bodies and their love for each other. Their beauty, love and confidence shines through and it’s clear to see why these stunning images have gone viral.
Stephanie and Arryn from Texas are due to wed next year. They wanted to do something to celebrate their love and help inspire people so called on their photographer friend Bria Terry, of Wolf & Rose Photography, to help.
When the company shared the photo shoot images on its Facebook page they attracted over 70,000 shares online with tens of thousands of likes. I think you’ll agree that the results are just beautiful.
Stephanie told HuffPost: “I was so nervous to see the final result. I didn’t know what to expect. But when I saw the album, I was shocked. I look so in love and confident. Every person should be able to see themselves in that light. It is really eye-opening.”
“I remember being in junior high and looking at myself in the mirror, wondering why my stomach wasn’t the way it was ‘supposed’ to be…Over the years, I’ve come to accept that I am always going to be considered plus-size.”
“I push myself out of my comfort zone by wearing clothes that I love but aren’t in society’s mold of what is acceptable for bigger women, like crop tops, tight shirts, shorter dresses and shorts. I walk around with my head high, smiling, and show no shame in myself.”
Their photos attracted so many positive comments with many praising the couple and saying how inspiring their pictures are.
“This makes my heart so happy and gives me hope as a plus size woman that not all men care about what size you are,” commented one person.
Another said: “Love is love whether you have a few extra pounds and he doesn’t or if you are both fitness people.”
With so many people being cruel to each other over body size and the shocking fat shaming that happens on social media it’s wonderful to see these photographs and the positive comments and support they have attracted.
