During a funeral procession for an Alabama police officer killed in action a man was captured kneeling in the pouring rain and praying.
Police vehicles were driving by as the man knelt and prayed. He was spotted by Tim Evans who took a picture of him and posted it to his Facebook page.
Almost 2,000 people have shared the image in three days, all equally moved by the man’s gesture.
Tim wrote: “I don’t know who this man is, but he knelt in the wet grass and prayed, his hand outstretched as each patrol car passed by. It was a very touching tribute.”
According to Advance Local, 33-year-old Kimberly police officer Nick O’Rear, was fatally shot Tuesday night during a pursuit.
“Everybody loved him,” Kimberly Mayor Bob Ellerbrock told the news outlet. “He was a tremendous asset to our community.”
‘Huge hole left in the heart of this community’
The Kimberly Fire Department paid tribute to the fallen officer writing on Facebook: “This community lost a great man yesterday. To know Nick O’Rear was to love him.
“He loved this community, his family and his friends so much. He will be missed greatly and there will be a huge hole left in the heart of this community.”
Such a touching tribute from a stranger. Please share to honor all those who are on the front line that sacrifice their lives to keep us safe.
