Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to marry on Saturday, May 19th.
The wedding bells will ring at noon in St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, 20 miles west of London, and the ceremony will also be aired live all over the world.
But now, some scandalous news is rocking the British royal family.
According to several American and British media outlets, including the celebrity gossip site TMZ and the British tabloid Daily Express, but also CNN, the bride’s father, Thomas Markle, will not attend the wedding and walk his daughter down the aisle.
There are only a few days left before Princess Diana’s youngest son, Prince Harry, will say “yes” to his beloved, Meghan Markle, an actress most famous for her role as Rachel in the American television series “Suits.”
The royal family in Britain has, of course, been preparing for the big day since the engagement was announced at the end of last year. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been an official couple since 2016.
But now, some unexpected news has shaken fans of the royal family across Britain and beyond.
The bride’s father, Thomas Markle, won’t be going to the UK to walk his daughter down the aisle to Prince Harry.
According to TMZ, there are two reasons.
First, it was recently revealed that Thomas Markle allowed paparazzi to take pictures of him for money.
In these pictures, Thomas Markle appears to be preparing for the royal wedding in Britain. He admits, according to TMZ, that the photos look make him look bad and that he doesn’t want to embarrass the British royal family. And now, he regrets his decision to allow the pictures to be taken.
According to Meghan’s half sister Samantha Grant, she was the one who advised her dad to agree to take the pictures. Samantha thought it would improve her father’s reputation after being negatively portrayed in the British media.
But that’s not the only reason.
Six days ago, Thomas Markle suffered from a heart attack and was hospitalized.
A spokesman for the royal family gave a statement.
“This is a deeply personal moment for Ms. Markle in the days before her wedding. She and Prince Harry ask again for understanding and respect to be extended to Mr. Markle in this difficult situation,” a Kensington Palace spokesman said, according to CNN.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to pay tribute to Diana at the wedding
Harry and Meghan have previously announced that they plan to pay tribute to Harry’s deceased mother, Princess Diana, at the wedding.
“Not being able to meet his mum, it’s so important to me to know that she’s a part of this with us,” Megan Markle said in an interview last year, according to the Sun.
Prince Harry has already honored his late mother, Princess Diana, in the wedding by using two diamonds from the princess’s collection to embellish Meghan’s engagement ring.
According to People, the flower arrangement in St. Georges Chapel will also be a tribute to Diana. There will be white garden roses, Diana’s favorite, side by side with Meghan Markle’s favorite, peonies.
