Some people do not believe in miracles, but in fact miracles happen more often than you might think – just open your eyes and look around you.
But whether you believe in miracles or not, this amazing story should touch you no matter what.
A woman who had been in a coma for 27 years after a tragic brain injury, reportedly woke up and called out her son’s name.
”For years I have dreamt of this moment, and my name was the first word she said,” said Omar Webair to The National.
Munira Abdulla from United Arab Emirates (UAE) was 32 years old when a tragic incident occurred.
She suffered a severe brain injury after the car she was travelling in collided with a bus.
Munira was riding in the backseat with her son Omar, who was 4 years old at the time, when they were struck by a school bus.
The quick-thinking mom shielded her son from the bus. He walked away unscathed.
”My mother was sitting with me in the back seat. When she saw the crash coming, she hugged me to protect me from the blow”. Omar told the BBC.
Munira – who was being driven by her brother-in-law – was left critically injured and fighting for her life.
After waiting four hours for help to arrive at the crash scene, she got transferred to a hospital in London.
Unfortunately, there was not much the doctors could do. Munira ended up in a coma but underwent a number of surgeries to correct her severely shortened arm and leg muscles.
She was fed through a tube and underwent physiotherapy to ensure her muscles would not weaken through lack of movement, reported the BBC.
Two years ago, she was transferred to a hospital in Germany – there she regained consciousness.
She woke up 2018, stunning her doctors.
Apparently, her son was involved in an argument in his mom hospital room. That seemed to prompt his mother to stir.
”There was a misunderstanding in the hospital room and she sensed I was at risk, which caused her a shock,” Omar said.
”She was making strange sounds and I kept calling the doctors to examine her, they said everything was normal.
“Then, three days later, I woke up to the sound of someone calling my name.”
Omar never gave up on her because he always had a feeling that one day she would wake up.
”I shared her story to tell people not to lose hope on their loved ones. Don’t consider them dead when they are in such a state”, he said.
Wow. How amazing that her son never once gave up on his mother.
So glad she was able to come out of the coma after almost 3 decades later. Blessings to her her son and the family!
