None of us know how much time we have on this earth and too often it’s the special people that are taken away too early.
When Chris Rosati was diagnosed with a terminal illness he decided that in the short time he had left he wanted to make sure it was truly memorable for his young daughters.
Chris was diagnosed with the terminal illness ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, in 2012. Up until that point Chris was a career-driven man but from the moment of his diagnosis he decided that he wanted to put his efforts into making the world a better and happier place for his daughters.
His mission began with a donut truck from Krispy Kreme which Chris borrowed complete with 1,000 donuts. He took the truck around his hometown of Durham, North Carolina and delivered them to hospital wards and city parks.
The diagnosis has made him put his values into perspective and fully focus on his daughters.
“I can’t teach them every lesson. I won’t have enough time – but I can be a good person and they can see that,” he told CBS News.
For Chris, dads who think their careers matter don’t have the slightest idea of what’s truly important.
His eldest daughter Logan said her dad wants her to have the best life.
“I wouldn’t trade him for a million dollars.”
When asked what Logan will remember most about her dad she said, “He tried to make friends with the world. I think it’s hard to do. I’m proud of him.”
Chris lost his battle in 2017 at just 46 years old but will always be remembered for having a smile on his face and teaching his daughters to make the most of life with wonderful acts of kindness.
