Animal lover Simon Cowell donates over $30,000 – to stop the trafficking of dog meat

Simon Cowell is known for his blunt and controversial comments for the thousands of people who appear in front of him with a dream of winning one of the six talent shows he’s a judge on. He is also the principal founder and chief executive of the British entertainment company Syco.

But what many people don’t know is what an animal lover he is working with PETA to help fight against animal cruelty, supporting adoption over purchase — rescuing two small terriers — and has even spoke out against leaving animals in hot cars and his disgust for the fur trade.

Most recently he donated more than $30,000 to an organization that fights against the dog meat industry, according to the site Ladbible.

The money was donated to the Humane Society International (HSI) and his donation will mean that more than 200 dogs and puppies will now be safe from being killed and harvested for food.

“Simon Cowell has generously donated £25,000 ($32,575) to our rescue campaign to help us shut down the 13th dog meat farm in South Korea and save more than 200 dogs! We are so grateful to Simon…this means a lot to us!” writes the organization on Twitter .

This is not the first time Simon has taken a stand against the dog meat industry, as he has repeatedly expressed his disgust at the practice, publicly backing the #EndDogMeat campaign and opposing a dog eating festival in Yulin, China.
