When we think of retirement communities, calm, quiet and peaceful often springs to mind. However, live music, resort-style pools and 5 o clock bars isn’t something we associate with retirement.
Many retirement communities are embracing and encouraging exercise and healthy living and there is a lot more choice on the market.
Now musician, songwriter, author, actor, and businessman Jimmy Buffet is adding another theme to mix with his latest venture: a Margaritaville-themed retirement community and it’s not for those looking for a quiet life.
Latitude Margaritaville is a tropical-themed community with large resort-style pools, a live music area and “it’s always 5 o’clock” bars to get your margarita fix on.
Homes in the Daytona Beach community start in the low $200,000’s and range from 1,500-2,500 sq ft. Homes are bright and cheerful, painted in whites and pastels.
They are in keeping with the tropical beach theme and you can even listen to Margaritaville Radio in your new home by the ocean.
Locations so far include Hilton Head in South Carolina, Daytona Beach, Florida and Watersound, Florida according to the business’ website.
Country star Jimmy Buffet released his break through hit “Margaritaville” just over 40 years ago which pushed him into the limelight and attracted his legion of fans, affectionately known as “Parrotheads.” Those early fans are now reaching prime retirement age so what better project for Buffet to head than a retirement community.
