As the temperatures outside continue to plummet it’s hard to consider all the homeless people struggling to find a warm place to stay for the night.
As the lucky ones who have a safe warm home there is much we can do to help: volunteer at a local shelter, donate food and warm clothing but one woman decided she had to do more and is being hailed a hero for her selfless actions.
Bus driver Natalie Barnes was on the night shift when a homeless man boarded her bus. He had no money and was freezing cold so without a second thought Natalie went above and beyond the call of duty to help him.
We see super heroes on the big screen but there are heroes without capes and super powers that are really making a difference in the world.
Treacherously low temperatures
Bus driver Natalie Barnes drives her bus in the U.S. city of Milwaukee, where temperatures can get treacherously low in winter.
It was on a cold Sunday night that a man boarded the bus and rode it to the end of the line. He then opened up to Natalie telling her that he was newly homeless after his home was condemned and asked if he could stay on the bus to keep warm.

Natalie not only let him stay on the bus but when she took her meal break she also got him some food.
Natalie even offered to pick him up some items from the Dollar Store, according to the Journal Sentinel.

This huge-hearted lady then reached out to a friend who was part of an organization that helped homeless people find shelter.

Off the streets
“I do not know what to say, except for thank you,” he says.
Thanks to Natalie this man is now in a shelter and staff are helping him to find a permanent home and Natalie received a much-deserved excellence award from Milwaukee County Transit Systems.
This woman is really setting the bar for love and compassion. Such a beautiful selfless individual that should inspire us all to want to help those who are less fortunate than ourselves.
