The bond between a grandparent and their grandchild is undeniable.
It’s so comforting for a new parent to be able to leave their newborn with a grandparent as you have nothing to worry about. You know their parenting skills and you know they love the child, it’s like leaving them at their second home.
For those lucky parents who have grandparents nearby and can drop them off to take a break or run errands, you feel calm knowing that your baby is in safe hands.
And for the grandparents, they benefit too; it keeps them young, and for those that look after their grandchildren regularly it can help them to live longer.
David Waterhouse is a Dallas officer who just came out of retirement. His grandson and parents, who live in Kentucky, refer to him as ‘Pawpaw.’
Babysitting duty
He is a doting grandfather and would jump on a plane at a moment’s notice to look after his precious grandson. But, his family like to make fun of him for not being the most tech-savvy of people, still using a flip phone.
David doesn’t do social media or anything much online, unless he has to, but what he does like to do is take photos with his flip phone.
When it was time for David to spend some quality time with his grandson, he couldn’t wait. His parents were taking a well-earned break and David was on hand to help.
Genius trick from Grandpa
David used his photo-taking skills to let mommy and daddy know how their son was doing and simply placed Ty next to a letter he wrote to them telling them all about his day.
His notes were just adorable, not to mention hilarious, and just show how much this grandpa loves time with his sweet grandson.
