To shoot and kill an animal just for sport is horrifying to me and I’ve never understood it.
The recent case of a father and son who shot a hibernating bear and her cubs was met with public outrage and the pair were dealt with properly.
But now authorities are trying to find the person or persons responsible for the death of a female bald eagle.
It is believed that she was tending her nest when she was shot dead.
The eagle was found at the end of March in Drew County, Arkansas.
A reward of up to $6,000 is being offered to catch the culprit by The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, which are investigating.
The dead eagle was found near a road, west of Monticello and transferred to the Little Rock Zoo, where veterinary staff determined the cause of death as a gunshot wound.
Animal experts say the bird was believed to be tending her nest when she was shot.
