Terrified puppies cry in pain after being tied to fence with razor-sharp wire

Despite tougher sentences being imposed and more media coverage, cases of animal abuse continue.

I can understand how some animal owners find they can no longer look after their pets and have to find new homes for them but to dump them in pain, as one dog owner did, is unfathomable.

These two terrified puppies were found abandoned outside a rescue center tied to a fence with razor sharp wires that cut through their skin.

The pups were dumped outside Animal Rescue Fund (ARF) of Mississippi.

They were dumped late in the evening and spent the whole night crying in pain as the wire dug into their legs.

One of the puppies suffered from a deep wound that needed immediate medical attention, according to ARF director Elizabeth Jackson, as reported by KXLF.

The shaking pups were discovered by ARF worker Pippa Jackson the following morning.

She was so horrified she had to take pictures of them and share them on Facebook. In the post she wrote: “I hate people. And one will need immediate vet care because the [expletive] tied them with wire.”

She added: “It is a holiday, all vets are full with boarding, and we owe all our vets tons. Looks like they tied them to our gate at 9:18 last night.”

Pup’s leg was saved

She immediately freed the pups and they were rushed to emergency veterinary care.

ARF staff had thought the puppy with the deep wound may lose its leg but thankfully they managed to save it.

The organization shared an update on the pups in a Facebook post which said: “The injured dog will keep his leg, is on antibiotics and regular cleaning and bandages change. Both are very sweet.”

ARF has also raised over US$1,000 for the pups’ medical care.
