Kirstie Alley passed away on Monday, December 5th 2022 at the age of 71. Her children revealed that their mother had been diagnosed with cancer in the announcement of her death. Her cancer diagnosis was not widely publicized which is why her death came as a shock to many.
After her passing, old videos of her are taking on new meaning. Her 2014 interview on the Ellen DeGeneres show is making rounds online because of some of the things she said during the interview.
When the interview was filmed in 2014, Kirstie had only recently turned 63 years old. She talked about the feelings she had about aging, “I just think it’s so weird. You know, after 40, everything’s weird,” Kirstie said. “Everything that I took for granted, you have to work at a little bit. Everything,” she added.

“But then, the hardest part is this: that I thought, when I was 20, I thought, ‘Oh, when I’m 60, I’m gonna feel…’ I don’t know, I had the image that I would feel, ‘Oh well, how you doing, Ellen? Oh yeah, kids come over and Grammy will make you some cookies.” Kirstie hilariously said the last part in a voice where she pretended to be an “old lady.” “I don’t feel like that,” she joked.
But she did talk of her fear of looking foolish because she felt so young but looked her age. “What if I’m 98 and I should die, and I just feel like, ‘Wow! Let’s go out, let’s go do this!'” she said as she danced her best clubbing moves.
Kirstie leaves behind her two children, True and Lillie Parker. Both her children were adopted by her during her marriage to Parker Stevenson.
“Our mother’s zest and passion for life, her children, grandchildren and her many animals, not to mention her eternal joy of creating, were unparalleled and leave us inspired to live life to the fullest just as she did,” her children wrote in the announcement of her death.
