It doesn’t take much to treat each other with respect and kindness, but still it seems that both of those things are sorely lacking these days.
Last weekend, Kristen and her family were laying her beloved grandfather to rest.
Fred Ladage was a veteran who had served in the Navy and Navy reserves during World War 2, reports Fox News Insider. He was married to Kristen’s grandmother for 61 years, before passing away at the age of 91.
His family were proud to celebrate his life as they laid him to rest at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with full military honors.
But as the funeral procession made its way to the cemetary, they noticed something unexpected on the side of the road. Kristen grabbed her phone to take a photo, which has now been shared hundreds of times.
In the photo, a semi-truck is parked on the shoulder of I-70 in Missouri. The driver stands next to his truck with his hand on his heart.
That trucker is Bradley Faulkner, a US Army veteran of 9 years who has served with the military police in Iraq. When he saw the WWII veteran’s procession on the highway, he wanted to show his respect.
Kristen caught the moment in a photo.
“While in the funeral procession today, a man driving a truck pulled off and made honor as we all proceed,” Kristen wrote in her Facebook post. “Thank you for showing such great honor – I found and got to personally thank this man!”

Kristen and her family were incredibly moved by the gesture.
“For that moment, everything about my grandfather, about his legacy and life, was important,” Kristen tells 2WMAZ.
But for Bradley, he was only doing the right thing.
“It doesn’t change your life at all to lift up that one family and say ‘Hey, in your time of need, I’m here for you whether I know you or not’,” he tells 2WMAZ.

This is what respect looks like! Bradley and the rest of our brave veterans really deserve all the respect in the world.
