Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to be married on Saturday, May 19th. The church bells will ring in Windsor Castle near London and the prince will say “I do” to his beloved from the United States.
Leading up to the wedding, there have been a lot of rumors, and one in particular is reminding everyone of Princess Diana’s funeral 21 years ago.
Princess Diana became world famous when she met Prince Charles. At 20, she became the Princess of Wales when the couple wed on July 29, 1981.
Princess Diana was loved by the British people, mostly because of her authenticity and her strong humanitarian involvement. She was also a breath of fresh air in the stiff British monarchy.
Her death shocked the whole world when the car she was riding in crashed in Paris in 1997.
Now, Diana’s youngest son, Prince Harry, will marry his beloved, Meghan Markle. On Saturday, church bells will ring in Britain — and the whole world will be watching.
Earlier, it was rumored that Elton John, who sang at Diana’s funeral 21 years ago, will perform during the Prince’s wedding this weekend.
Now, the celebrity gossip website TMZ is reporting that it is clear that the artist will be singing.
Even the UK newspaper the Independent is reporting on the story from TMZ.
Already in February, signs appeared that something might be happening. At the time, Elton John canceled gigs for the weekend of Harry and Meghan’s wedding.
It hasn’t been officially confirmed and we don’t know if Elton John will sing during the wedding or at the reception afterward. In any case, it won’t be the first time Elton John has sung for the British royal family.
When Princess Diana was buried in Westminster Abbey on September 6, 1997, Sir Elton sang “Candle in the Wind.”
The artist was good friend of the princess.
“She was very much loved. She was a controversial figure in some respects, but not to me. I loved her because she did so much for AIDS and she was a great friend to me,” Elton John said, according to People Magazine.
