Family move into new home and find note from old homeowner asking them to care for cat

It’s so exciting to move into a new house and have a completely blank canvas. The previous owners should have removed everything and it’s all ready for you to put your stamp on it.

When Miranda and her family moved into their new home in July 2018 they not only found something extra the previous owners had left behind but a note with some strange instructions.

The note to Miranda and her family said the following:

“Welcome to our beloved home! We hope you enjoy it as much as we have! There’s one favor we ask of you, you do not have to do it, but we would appreciate it if you did.

“In the backyard there is an old orange kitty who lives there. He is feral and was born in our backyard 12 years ago. He has an injured paw and will not let you go near him. We feed him (every day) twice a day and we have for years now,” it continued.

“We immediately looked out the back sliding glass door and he was looking at us through the door,” Miranda told The Dodo.

The minute the family saw the cat, they couldn’t believe they had been trusted with another feline friend.

“We started laughing because we currently have five cats, all but one have been rescued,” Miranda said. “The house we lived in previously, people used to drop off their cats there and we took them in.”

So Miranda called the cat Raz, and she decided to try and gain his trust, considering how much experience she had with cats.

“He used to hide anytime we came to the door. Now we can sit outside with him,” she said. “He will come up and eat now when the screen door is open, which he wouldn’t do before.”

Miranda hopes that one day Raz will trust her enough to let her take him to the vet.

“If you have the means to take care of an animal in need, you should,” Miranda said. “There is nothing like earning their trust and helping them live out their time comfortably and feeling loved.”

Raz is so lucky to have new people move in who want to look after him. He is in safe hands with these cat lovers.

Please share to remind others to help animals in need. It’s so important that we’re on the look out. You never know what needy furry creatures are in your back yard.ºº
