Rachael Ray, who celebrated the big 5-0 at the end of August, is marking a year of milestones this year. As well as the season 13 premiere of her talk and lifestyle show “Rachael Ray”, it’s also ten years since she launched her pet food line “Nutrish”.
She developed the dog food recipes for her pit bull Isaboo and since July 2008, through this massively successful pet food line, she’s donated nearly $30 million to helping animals in need through Rachael’s Rescue, a charity which she champions to help provide assistance for at-risk animals.
To celebrate such an amazing achievement and to honor her special birthday her husband, co-workers and friends decided to pull out all the stops and mark the occasion in style.
She was first joined onstage by her husband John, who had organized and kept the surprise secret from her for months. John then brought on some special guests including Chefs Curtis Stone and Emeril Lagasse who walked onstage holding two adorable rescue puppies.
But that wasn’t the end of the cute puppies as her stage then became overrun with 50 of the most gorgeous rescue puppies. All thanks to staff from the North Shore Animal League America.
Rachael was then told that the 50 puppies had been rescued in her honor! The TV host was so overcome with emotion she appealed to the public to help give these gorgeous creatures a home, saying: “Nothing in the world would make every person on this stage happier than to give all these loving animals a home. You’ll live longer as humans, and you’ll be better humans if you put an animal in your lives.”
