Rare white-faced fawn rejected by its mother because of appearance: then starts wowing the crowds

Being abandoned is never easy but, being dumped by your family is even more difficult.

This is the case for a special little white-faced fawn who found a home at Deer Tracks Junction farm, in Michigan.

Visitors to Deer Tracks Junction can see a variety of animals such as Elk, deer, reindeer, yaks, goats, bunnies, pigs and even camels. It’s also a working farm where you can buy animals.

In 2015, one of the main attractions of Deer Tracks Junction was a special little deer with a unique look. Dragon was really something special but unfortunately life was not so kind to this sweet fawn.

He was given the name Dragon by owner Hilary Powell’s 19-year-old son, according to the working farm’s Facebook page.

In spite of his name Dragon was a beautiful and rare white deer. But although this wonderful little creature had an incredible exterior, it was this that caused him to be rejected by his mother and almost killed.

His birth mother Bunny was a special type of whitetail deer known as the Piebald, which carries a genetic defect causing it to have large areas of white in its coat, according to Michigan Live.

His white face would also have made it difficult for him to survive on his own because he wouldn’t have blended well into his scenery and would have been an easy target for predators.

Thankfully, Dragon was taken care of at the farm and quickly became a star, with so many “paparazzi” photographers who came to capture this beautiful creature.

Unfortunately, Dragon would not make it to his 1st birthday due to numerous health complications.

“Well, sadly, this is an update that I never wanted to have to make,” Powell wrote on Facebook. “Despite all medical intervention available, we lost our little Dragon. It has been a tough time here, and he will be greatly missed by all.”

The farm and staff there received incredible support from the public, many of whom had fallen in love with Dragon. The post attracted more than 140 comments from people offering their condolences.

I’m so sorry. I didn’t know he had passed. He was the most beautiful deer I have ever seen. Rip Dragon you will be missed,” wrote one follower.

“Thank you so much for taking good care of him. He lived in paradise,” wrote another.
