UFC fighter in hot water after a dog was found tied to his truck alone at an airport for days

I can understand that in certain cases a dog can become too much and you have to find it another home. If you can’t give your pet the love and support it needs it’s up to you to find someone who will.

And there are plenty of people who do that and so many shelters who are there to help.

But those people who just abandon their pets as if they have no feelings or needs is a terrible thing to do to an animal.

A former Ultimate Fighting Championship champion could be charged with animal cruelty after a dog was found tied to his truck in an airport parking garage alone for multiple days, according to People.

Frank Shamrock, a UFC Middleweight Champion, said he tried to “find a home” for his mother’s 7-year-old chocolate Lab Zelda but couldn’t find anyone before his plane took off.

He posted a message on Facebook saying he couldn’t find anyone in time.

“Please help!” he wrote. “Anyone in Dallas, Texas that can help with this dog? My mom has to give her dogs away as she can’t care for them anymore.”

While it is not clear where Shamrock flew to, he posted about a trip to Aspen on Instagram March 9.

The former UFC fighter spoke to WFAA-TV, where he admitted his actions and referred to himself as an “animal lover.”

“They can charge me with whatever. I will show up. It is what it is. I’m not hiding in any way. It’s an unfortunate and terrible thing. I’m an animal lover and I ran away crying,” Shamrock said.

Dallas police said the dog was left at Love Field airport for five days, according to WFAA-TV.

Tied her up and left food and water

Animal rights activists hit out at the former fighter saying what he did was illegal and pointing out that it was a very cold weekend when the dog was left alone in the parking garage.

Shamrock said he was in Dallas to move his ailing mother out of her home and had to take her dogs.

He found shelter for one dog but claimed no shelter would take Zelda, so he tied up her up, left some food and water and boarded a plane, according to WFAA-TV.
