With celebrity couples breaking up and switching partners so frequently we can barely keep up, it’s nice to know that there is a happy ending for one celebrity couple who announced they were going their separate ways 5 years ago.
Since producing and hosting his own show, The Ben Stiller Show, at 25 years old, Ben Stiller has gone on to write, direct, produce, and star in more than 50 movies including The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, There’s Something About Mary, Meet the Parents, and Zoolander.
The 56-year-old Hollywood star married actress Christine Taylor in 2000, during an oceanfront ceremony in Kauai, Hawaii.
The couple went on to have two children together and they have even appeared in a number of movies together including Zoolander, Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, and Tropic Thunder.
Ben and Taylor met on the 1999 set of Heat Vision and Jack.
“When I met her, I pretty much thought, ‘That’s the person. “It was like, ‘Wow, this is a great person. I love her,'” Stiller told ET in 2007.
But 17 years after the power couple united for their wedding in Hawaii, they announced their separation in May 2017.
“With tremendous love and respect for each other, and the 18 years we spent together as a couple, we have made the decision to separate,” they said in a joint statement at the time. “Our priority will continue to be raising our children as devoted parents and the closest of friends.”
Now the couple have announced they are getting back together again. Ever since their split, the two have remained close on both a personal and professional level.
”There’s still a lot of love between them, and it’s clear the spark never went away. They’re just taking each day as it comes,” a source told Closer Weekly.
And it seems like that source had good knowledge about the situation.
Ben Stiller told Esquire in a new interview that he moved back in with his wife and their children daughter Ella, 19, and son Quinlin, 16, during the pandemic in 2021, four years after the couple announced their separation in 2017.
“We were separated and got back together and we’re happy about that. It’s been really wonderful for all of us. Unexpected, and one of the things that came out of the pandemic,” the award-winning actor told the magazine.
The Zoolander star also had an unusual metaphor to explain their reunion.
“A few years ago, I realized I don’t like horseback riding. If there’s an opportunity to go horseback riding, I’m probably not going to do it. Now, I like horses! I think they’re beautiful. I like petting them. I like watching people ride horses, I like watching my kids ride horses,” he said. “I just don’t really love riding horses. And once you know that, it just saves a lot of energy.”
He added, “So, yeah, I think we have a respect for the ways that we’re similar and the ways we’re different. And I think accepting that, you can really appreciate someone more because you’re not trying to get them to change for you.”
I think we can all agree that whatever the reason it’s good to see a happy ending after yet another Hollywood split. Please share.
