Beautiful Betty White is a national treasure boasting a career spanning 80 years.
On January 17th she turns 98 years old, she has the longest television career of any female entertainer and still shows no sign of slowing down.
Known as a pioneer of television she is one of the first women to have control both in front of the camera and behind it. She is best known for her roles in “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and “The Golden Girls” and was even one of the oldest hosts of “Saturday Night Live.”
After so many years in show business she has plenty of advice, as well as the secret to staying so youthful all of these years.
After World War II, during which time she’d put her career on hold to volunteer for the American Women’s Voluntary Services, she started looking for work in movie studios.
After being turned away for being “unphotogenic” she turned to radio and started reading ads before landing her own radio show called “The Betty White Show.”
This hardworking and determined lady landed a job hosting live TV show “Hollywood on Television” putting her on our screens for five and half hours six days a week.
The pivotal post meant she became an actress and presenter in demand and the six-time Emmy winner has been making us smile ever since.
But Betty believes that she has been spoiled throughout her career telling Parade, “I got an award for everything, inhaling, exhaling; I’ve been so spoiled rotten.”
Having lived and worked in Hollywood for as long as she has, she knows a thing or two and has some valuable advice for those trying to break into show business.
“Do your work, learn your lines and come in prepared,” she told Parade. “Don’t think you can wing it, because you can’t. We’re in show business, which is fun, but take your business seriously, because it is a serious business.”
Her impressive body of work and her youthful looks and outlook on life has made her a true inspiration to so many others.
Another of her strong characteristics is optimism.
‘Waste of time’
“I know it sounds corny, but I try to see the funny side and the upside, not the downside. I get bored with people who complain about this or that. It’s such a waste of time.”
She also encourages us to focus on the positive and not the negative.
Betty White is a living legend and a true role model to us all.
If you focus on the positives life becomes so much more fun. Please share if you agree.
