Boy found drowned in toilet waste after disappearance sparked 500-strong search

A family has been left devastated after a 6-year-old boy was discovered drowned in the outside toilet of their home, days after he was reported missing.

Beniamin Osipciuc was discovered drowned among feces in the latrine of his home after he slipped while trying to climb onto the toilet seat.

He had been at his home in Hincesti, Moldova, with his 14-year-old sister and 9-year-old brother when the tragedy happened.

His siblings were busy doing homework and didn’t notice he was missing until later in the day. They told their parents when they returned home from work and shortly after police were alerted.

Around 500 volunteers joined police in the search for little Beniamin over two days. It was only when nothing came up that police decided to search closer to home.

“We broke the outside lavatory and found the boy’s body in the pit latrine,” senior officer Igor Zglavuta said, according to MailOnline.

‘Suffocated in feces’

Forensic examinations showed no marks of violence on the child’s body, police added.

Police spokeswoman Kristina Vikol said: “The victim suffocated in feces after falling in the outside lavatory in the courtyard of his family’s house.”

His father Fyodor Osipciuc said: “We cannot imagine how he could fall through the drop hole. He used the toilet on his own since he was three…”

Such a tragedy and our hearts go out to his family. Rest in peace Beniamin.
