Fashion tycoon who lost three children in Sri Lanka terrorist attack lays them to rest

The horrific terrorist attacks in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday will forever be etched in our minds.

More than 250 people were killed in Sri Lankan churches and hotels in the terrorist attack which involved 8 explosions.

Among the victims was three children of Danish billionaire Andres Holch Povlsen who described the loss as “utterly incomprehensible.”

On Saturday he laid them to rest in a service at Aarhus Cathedral, in Denmark, which was attended by the Danish Royal Family.

Andres Holch Povlsen, who is largest shareholder in the British internet clothes retailer Asos.com consoled his wife Anne and daughter Astrid, who managed to survive the attacks.

The family was reported to have been staying at the Shangri-La Hotel in the Sri Lankan capital of Colombo when the attacks happened.

The coffins of his three children Alfred, Alma and Agnes were covered in pink and blue flowers and daughter Astrid cut a bouquet of balloons from one of the coffins.

It is believed that the fashion tycoon was hurt in the terrorist attacks carried out by Zahran Hashim and Ilham Ibrahim but was later discharged by the hospital.

Reading a message from the Povlsen family to a crowd of around 700, pastor Arne Holst-Larsen said, “The loss of our beloved children Alma, Agnes and Alfred are completely incomprehensible.

‘Come together through it’

“With the many lovely people we have around us, close friends, talented colleagues and our loving family we will come together through it,” he said, according to the Daily Mail.

“We greatly appreciate the humanity that is also shown in Brande tonight – not only to our families and children, but to all the victims of the cruel acts in Sri Lanka.”
