Hero trucker sees distraught girl cowering in RV, spots curtain and runs to save her

Kevin Kimmel is a truck driver, so he’s used to seeing all sorts of things in all sorts of places.

Nothing quite compares to what he witnessed back in January 2015, however, when he stopped at a rest stop in New Kent, Virginia.

Sipping on his cup of coffee, he couldn’t help but spot something odd inside an RV parked close by. For a moment he glimpsed what appeared to be a young woman through the window, shielded by a dark curtain.

Without taking the time to mull over the situation, he realised soon enough that he had to act …

When Kevin noticed a young woman sitting inside an old RV nearby, his instincts took other and he started to assess the situation. Ultimately, something wasn’t sitting right with him.

Speaking to WTVR, he explained: “An older RV, black curtains — in my world, that’s not natural.”

You see, Kevin could see from the look on the girl’s face that there was a problem. His first impression was that she was distraught, while the longer he watched her the more he thought she could perhaps be in some sort of danger.

He could have ignored her, and simply put it down to his own imagination. He didn’t though, and it turned out that was a very good thing indeed,

Instead, he placed a call to the police. It would later transpire that this exact call would save a woman’s life.

“I’m just happy I helped her,” he said. “I’ve got daughters.”

It turned out that the girl in question had been abducted by a couple and forced into prostitution. She was spared from this horror only by Kevin’s intuition and quick-thinking.

According to FOX8, Kevin still drives a truck — but he’s also taken to touring around the country and speaking about his experience at anti-trafficking events.

In Kevin’s eyes, the golden rule is that if you see anything suspicious – anything at all – you should always say something. If he hadn’t trusted his instincts, the girl in question could still be being subjected to a world of violence and unspeakable trauma.

One phone call can literally save a life.
