Music loving 9-year-old with Down syndrome belts out his favorite song: doesn’t realize he’s on camera

When someone with a passion for a particular song starts singing along, it always brings a smile to my face. It’s the passion and connection they have to it, however they sing it, that gets me.

There are certain songs that create this passion and anything by Whitney Houston usually gets people singing with feeling. Her 1992 hit “I Have Nothing” is such a classic. From the movie hit The Bodyguard, the song earned her an Academy Award. It’s such a powerful track.

Youngster Dane Miller thinks so too and when it came on the radio in the car one day, he couldn’t help but show his appreciation. His passionate sing along was captured by his dad and then shared by his aunt. You’ll see why so many people responded.

The 9-year-old who has Down syndrome sings every note with such feeling. To see that much joy and passion just lifted my heart.

Jeanne Miller posted the video of her gorgeous nephew Dane Miller on Facebook. Unsurprisingly the video reached 21 million views after just one week and the family were overjoyed at the positive attention it received.

Dane, from Prosper, Texas, is clearly a huge fan of the soul diva Houston and his rendition, complete with hand motions and so much feeling, is captivating.

The boy’s rendition of “I Have Nothing” was complete with dramatic hand motions and expressions, and of course, loud and powerful singing. Miller’s enthusiasm and dedication to the music is sure to make anyone smile.

“Just reading the comments, they’re so sweet. I’m getting emotional,” said Dane Miller’s mother, Danna Miller. “Some other families who have Down Syndrome children have posted pictures with their kids.”

Danna said her son was a huge music-lover and his interest in Whitney Houston developed after his older brother Dawson Miller, 13, introduced him to Houston’s music.

“When we had Dane, we didn’t know that he had Down syndrome, but it wouldn’t have mattered,” Danna Miller told ABC News. “He has been probably the biggest blessing of our lives. He is just so loving and joyful. He is what’s good about this world.”

The Millers have started a YouTube channel called “Amazing Dane,”  to share more of their son’s musical performances and spread his joy to everyone else.

“This channel was set up to share the awesomeness of Dane Miller,” the YouTube channel description reads. “He is full of joy, passion, and love for everyone he comes in contact with. We hope these videos will give you joy and make you laugh a little or whole lot.”
