No one understands why doctor gasps when he delivers twins: then mom witnesses an incredible sight

When my mom discovered she was pregnant with me she went for her routine check and got quite a shock. Mom had been feeling much worse when she was pregnant with me, compared to her previous pregnancy.

The ultrasound revealed why.

In my mom’s belly they discovered not one baby but two.

I know that my mom, like all moms of twins, found it incredibly hard looking after two babies at the same time, but growing up as a twin is a fantastic experience.

 

When Sarah and Bill Thistlethwaite found out they were expecting twins they were overjoyed.

But the joy soon became mixed with concern when the doctors discovered that the babies were monoamniotic twins, which means they  shared an amniotic sac — instead of each having her own — during gestation.

The pregnancy carried greater risks but despite Sarah, a math teacher from Orrville, Ohio, spending 57 days on bed rest before having them via cesarean, the twins had few medical issues.

Sarah and Bill already had a son so were so excited to have two girls in their lives.  Just a few days before Mother’s Day 2014, it was finally time for the girls to be delivered.

They were delivered at 33 weeks and the two sweet girls were healthy, but, just seconds after the delivery, the hospital room went dead quiet and Sarah’s OBGYN, Melissa Mancuso, let out a gasp.

Today, they are two lively little girls who have begun to develop their own personalities.  Jillian is the daredevil, while Jenna is more cautious.

But one thing hasn’t changed — the identical twins still love to hold hands and their bond is still very strong.

Sarah, who describes her girls as “two peas in a pod” said if one is without the other one they cry.
